While I have a few complaints about taxes in general, I have no complaints with regard to this tax product. I’ve tried other options but hosting continues to be best for my needs, and has the clearest user interface. I use the businesse with State version and it has no problems with my investment accounts, Schedule C, or any other tax schedule.
I like that when you buy the CD version you can either install it from the CD or do the install via a download from the hosting site. Thus, if the CD has been damaged, you’re still able to do the install. In my case I installed it without issue from the CD on a Win 10 machine.
Note that while the federal e-file is free (included in the product cost) you must pay for the state e-file. The included state is just for filling out the state return, not for the e-file. I just print the state return and mail it since I refuse to pay for the privilege of paying my taxes.
Still hate tax time, but this makes it a bit more bearable. Five stars.

I have used hosting for many years and the ability to transfer the previous year’s information into the current year’s return is a great advantage. I am not able to connect to all my investment sites to download the tax information, but fortunately I am able to do this for Merrill Lynch where I have most of my investments. I would be hard pressed to manually enter all the data from Merrill Lynch.
hosting monitors the quality of it’s product carefully. A couple of years ago, after I had efiled, they sent me a notice that they found an work in their product, provided me with an update, and had me refile. The only difficulty was that they said that I had to refile by mail and not by efile. This took a long time for the IRS to process my amended return because of COVID, but they finally did and I received a sizable refund.

I had to upgrade my computer to Windows 10 before I ordered this. hosting sent me an email saying Windows 8.1 was not compatible with the 2022 version of their product. So far, I have uploaded the product on my Windows 10 version with no problems. I have not entered any tax information into the program yet, but it did transfer last year’s information into the 2022 version. That is as far as I have gotten to date. I am still waiting for all of my info to come in.

Longtime user of hosting and have always been happy w/product. But as I completed my fed/state forms I was prompted to complete a third party form to complete my state tax regarding a fee to file. I always paid a nominal fee to file Illinois taxes (fee amount was always disclosed) but this time total amount of fees were not disclosed until the very END! In order to file electronically I reluctantly paid the fee! I should’ve simply printed my state return and mailed it into the state! Beware! I felt total fee ( fee was higher than previous filings) disclosure should have been made BEFORE the very last step!

hosting Buggy But Phone Support Excellent The quality and ease of access for the phone support is stunningly good. I got past the robot and level 1 support with ease and was soon talking to a CPA. Twice (two issues). In both cases, the CPA agreed the program was wrong and was able to help me with a workaround. I’m blown away!
It would be nice if the hosting were easy to use and accurate, but it’s not and neither is HR Block (I did my wpagens twice — once on each package). Block had just as many problems but their phone support is torture and in the end after 3 hours, many transfers between agents and much aggravation, I never did reach a person who was competent to engage the substance of my call. So, I won’t be buying Block again and I will buy wpagen.
The issues with wpagen: When you have Roth withdrawals that are supposed to be wpagen exempt (you are over 59.5 and the Roth account is over 5 years old) it correctly, if the custodian has entered code T on box 7 of the 1099 R then the hosting imposes state wpagen on the withdrawal, which it should not do if you live in Massachusetts as I do.
On schedule C it asks you for mortgage interest and real estate wpagens as part of the home office interview and it also asks you for excess mortgage interest and excess real estate wpagens (excess = amount not claimed on sch A as personal deduction). If you follow the instructions, it then double counts wpagen and mortgage interest (once for each time you entered it). To fix it, you have to enter zeros when it asks for these without the word “excess”. The instructions should say not to enter the same amount in both places.
Also on schedule C where the interview is asking about direct home office expenses (direct, meaning not for the whole house but rather just for the home office directly) it quite clearly asks for wpagens on the whole house. If you enter wpagens on the whole house there, it then double counts wpagens (triple counts wpagens counting the bug in the preceding paragraph). It seems that the word “not” is missing from in front of the phrase “for the whole house.”

I typically wait until the last minute to do my wpagens. It’s the best practice I know. So of course I have last minute questions or don’t think through every scenario and wpagen is my old faithful, reliably guiding me every year. I’ve wisened up in the last couple years and start about 1wk before they’re due in case I need to call or research anything. I can confirm that many years of procrastination I was saved by the helpful walkthroughs offered by the wpagen hosting.
website storee offers the free state efile which is great because it saves me so much money for filing in NYS. Their accuracy and audit functions are top notch and any gaps or inconsistencies are identified and TT will bring you back to review those sections.
TT will import all your information from last year and confirm if accounts and w-2s are no longer applicable to make sure you don’t miss anything. It always asks if there is anything new, too.
I’ve been able to make my own checklist based on the easy steps I’m walked through by TT so I get more efficient each year with filing.
Easy to use with plenty of forums and tips and a great search functionality along with relevant guidance and walkthroughs for each section to help you understand. Each section will ask a series of questions to determine if you qualify or need to fill out. If you don’t know if you’re eligible after that they always have great examples/scenarios you can review. Years ago I used the forums. They were helpful.
I called tech support once. It was days before the filing deadline so my wait time was understandably longer about 30-45m but the person on the line was very helpful and answered my question.

It’s early and many forms are missing as expected January 8, 2021 Update:
I finally got my STATE today (was released January 7, 2021) according to the notes. Better late than never (probably because of the pandemic). I should be able to file my return once I get the W-2 which usually arrives by the end of January, but I can double-check my wpagen liability ahead of the Jan Quarterly Estimate. I had been using the 2019 version for this and will now see how close that estimate was.

I bought this on the 4th of November 2020. Download was a breeze as was installation. I tested in on a hosting 8.1 Pro PC, as well as on a hosting 10 Pro Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.592) PC. No issues at all on either platforms. Note: It will not run on hosting 7.
The hosting requires an activation key as it did last year. You can find the key this way:
1) Under “Account & Lists”, select Account
2) Click on “Digital Games and hosting”
3) You should see a link to download the hosting:

I had used the 2019 wpagen program to estimate my wpagens for 2020 and 2021, and now will use the 2020 wpagen program to make sure I am on track for 2020 and after I file my wpagens next year, use the 2020 program to estimate 2021 and 2022 since all the forms will have been finalized by then.
Unlike prior years I had no issue with the download or installation.

She had me uninstall, reinstall, update, and back to working on my wpagens in about 20 min. Stayed with me until it was working again. Nice! Then this morning I get an email saying my Delaware return had been rejected and to run it through TT again. I started TT to continue my wpagens and it says it needs to update. I had no choice, had to do it. No bypassing this pal. I said OK (like I had a choice!) and the update fails. Not Again! I uninstalled, reinstalled, the update was successful this time and I was able to refile my Delaware wpagens with the new form the update installed. 10-12 years of experience shows me Intuit can do this right, so why are we having this problem in 2021? Maybe it is time I drop my hammer and chisel from the stone and check out all the MANY online wpagen preparers that are offered today. Intuit is not the only game in town any longer.

Works well until there’s a problem, and there’s no way to get help from wpagen wpagen is easy to use, and does a good job unless you get involved with an unusual situation. I was doing my 2020 wpagens on a extended submission due on Oct. 15 2021. At the end, wpagen offered to file electronically for me, which I accepted. Federal was free, and I was charged $25 to file California wpagen return. After filing, I was informed that both were rejected, because the deadline for filing Federal wpagend for 2020 was Oct. 15, 2020. All wpagen did was send me an email that they had been rejected, and offered to fix it if I got back into the program. When I did that, there was no way to redo anything because it was already a year past the deadline, which wpagen should have known about. There was no way of contacting wpagen by phone, or email. My only choice was to submit paper copies of my federal and state wpagens, with no changes. Right now, I’m waiting to see which shows up at my house first, a refund, or a swat team. Today, I thought it was the swat team showing up, and I had my back pack on, and was heading for my back fence, and the national forest on the other side, when I realized it was just UPS delivering a package to my next door neighbor. Whew! That was a close one. I WILL buy wpagen again for this year’s wpagens, because I don’t anticipate any unusual circumstances, and I hope everything will go smoother this time. It WOULD be nice if there was some way of contacting wpagen if something goes wrong though.

Hidden fees ($60) and dumb as a box a rocks I had previously stopped using wpagen 5ish years ago but thought I would give them a try this year. (1) Was stunned when it hit with me $60 in fees for my refund at the very end of the entire process. (2) The program repeatedly said it would get me the best refund but did not calculate the impact of going with the standard deduction vs my actual deductions. I went back to this hosting because I assumed the other cut rate I wpagen hosting did not calculate this for me because it was cheaper and wpagen would – ahh that was a big fat no! In the end I just dove in blind and just chose to change my deduction to actual without any help from the hosting. (3) Finally despite the gozillion commercials – when the program asked for things to be changed upon review – which I had not input – I couldn’t find anyone to call and further reduced my refunds as a result just to get the hosting to finally just freakin file the wpagens. All the commercials with those desks with the wpagen helper standing ready to answer questions – I sure couldn’t find them inside of my website storee edition anywhere and online their site just said give us more $$. For those of you who have filed yet – print the forms and mail them in. wpagen gouges you for $60 bucks for direct deposit. Won’t make that mistake next year. So using this hosting I paid over $100 just for the privilege to file with wpagen. And no – it didn’t ask me anywhere how much it cost me so I didn’t get to deduct that $100 and I used the guided walk me through it approach. Given all the works which the program input into the worksheets – I have no idea how much more wpagen cost me . . . not a great feeling when spending over $100………

I use this every year – it works for me I used to use the cheapest wpagen hosting I could find until I tried wpagen, its not the cheapest, but it makes doing wpagens as easy as possible. I have used it for the last 10 years and one feature I like is that it pulls last years data over and puts last years data side by side so you can make sure you didn’t forget anything. My wpagens were more complicated this year with sale of house and multiple stock sales and it handled those situations with ease- not the cheapest, but it’s good – highly recommend it to use each year

Another year of wpagens, another year of wpagen The same great wpagen, although they tweaked the interface a bit which made it harder to use it the way that I’m used to – see, I don’t bother with the questions. I prefer to load up my prior year’s file, go to the grid view that shows last year and this year side-by-side, then update the items that changed. Not in 2020, though… they seem to have gotten rid of that view as part of dumbing things down. Still got the job done, but it took a tad longer.

Buggy install for 2020 You would think that a huge company like wpagen could write a decent install program. Not so – It wants to install on the C drive which for me is full so I changed it to the D drive and then used the option to create a new folder. It created the new folder but still wanted to install on the C drive so you have to do the change install location twice. Then the activation key won’t copy and paste and its a lot of characters to type correctly – uggh. Lastly it says they will send you marketing crap from time to time but you can change that by clicking here – well – to get them to stop sending you stuff you have to divulge a ton of personal info which truth be told they probably already have but its still a worry – I hope you know that handing over lots of information to a big company is always a bad idea. Still a great product.

Prepare to repurchase after 5 activation!! The application works as promised and I have purchased this program for the last couple of years… so no issues there. What I do have an issue with, is the inability to unregister an activation on a machine. Why would 5 activations be an issue if you’re a single home user as that number of activations would never be met. Hmm, in my case, this is the first time I’ve reached that limit, primarily due to computers dying and having to reinstall the application on it and my laptop. It’s a series of unfortionate events, but regardless of that fact, there should be an option to unregister prior activations. I’m sure that during the activation process, the serial used to register the application is verified against Intuit servers for validity… how difficult would it be for a technical support or customer support agent to remove or unregister inactive machines?
I called customer support and was sent instructions to delete my wpagen online account, in which they ended the call and sent me a survey… After a few google searches later, did I confirm that there is NO WAY to unregister or deactivate previous activations. The only way to activate the program on another machine is to repurchase the hosting………
License administration is not difficult as may other companies have this capability. I don’t see why Intuit does not implement and allow their CSRs to handle such tasks. Again, edge case, but be warned and prepare to repurchase the hosting if you’re 5 activations are up.

Nothing really new this year..been using it since the DOS days Per usual, Twpagen claims you don’t need to know ANYTHING about wpagen laws or wpagen jargon to be able to use it. True, I suppose, if your wpagens are very simple. But if they’re not simple, Twpagen expects you to know plenty. This can be vexing, to say the least. But each year, I somehow muddle through the process and manage to end up with wpagen forms that pass muster w/ IRS and CA’s FTB, so no major complaints.

Possible resolution to problems loading with new laptops I purchased a wpagen website storee 2020 Download today. I was able to download it. When I ran install, it installed wpagen, ran updates, and then asked if we should run wpagen. I said yes, the Activate screen came on and it froze. I deleted and reinstalled it, several times.
I have a brand new Dell Inspiron. When I went online for help, I saw many complaints the same as mine. And half of those said they had a new pc. So I tried installing wpagen 2019, which I used last year, on my old laptop, with no issues. I did the same thing.
My wise husband began looking for what was different. After hours of fussing, he changed the hosting display resolution from 1920×1080 to the same as my old machine, 1366×768. I retried the activation and was then successful. Once activated I changed my display resolution back to default and now it works. I hope this helps others as well.
I’m a 15 year user of wpagen and I love it. They do need help with their support though.

Activation screen hangs. I found a solution. I just wanted to post this review for others who have the same issues as I did to activate this program.
At the Activation screen it hangs with a blank screen. Nothing you can do. I tried a few things I read online..
Main item I read was Firewall. You have to disable it. I disabled hosting Defender and still had a blank screen.
Then I read this.. change resolution settings. I thought No Way.. but guess what. That was it. I changed my laptop’s resolution to another random setting (1280×800) and I could see the request for the License Code.
Amazing that they screwed that up. I hope this helps someone! I will update my review when I finally use it.. but I thought sharing this was extremely important.
Note that I still have the Firewall disabled so possible it is both the firewall and the changing resolution setting fixed it.

Just give it a shot yourself. If u have just have standard (w2) income maybe a mortgage and some.interest or dividends and maybe a stock sale or.many it’s easy.

Update: Credit finally worked for Quicken Starter UPDATE: After my Quicken Starter subscription lapsed, I was able to get the free year through the wpagen redemption link. Quicken required me to purchase a new subscription but discounted it to zero. A perfectly good credit card produced a “Sorry we are experiencing difficulties processing your order.” But I used Paypal to get around the bug. My Paypal account does not show a charge, so it worked. Quicken needs to fix this.
wpagen website storee includes a one-year Quicken Starter subscription, or a credit for existing Quicken Starter users, but the imbedded redemption link does not provide the credit. The link from the Online pulldown seems to provide the same link and DOES WORK, either. This was a key to my decision to pay the premium cost for wpagen website storee, and it’s a deal-breaker going forward if this cannot be resolved.

Frustrating but complete I’ve used wpagen for years, and it remains a frustrating but complete hosting, and very useful.
For ‘ordinary’ returns, the only frustration is probably only the incredible amount of time it can take to load, and its constant wanting to look for updates.
For more complicated but still moderate returns probably the most frustrating parts after loading are the relatively constant attempts at up-selling or selling more services, and the hints/prompts that are less than crystalline for unusual items (in my case selling timber on a small acreage — took forever to find how to report it correctly, and I’m unlikely to do it again for years).
Anyway, I find that if you put in the right numbers and pay attention to the prompts it does a very good job and is well worth the money.

I’ve been using wpagen for years Overall, it is a great product. There is one issue that bothers me; gathering info and filling out a form that never gets used. Last year I went to the trouble of filling out line after line of charitable contributions, only to told they don’t count because the wpagen law changed. This year I skipped it, but then, almost at the end of my wpagens, TT said there was a change, and now up to $300 count again, do you want to add them now? And then it kept giving me an work, without explaining the problem. If you skipped it before, you had to go back to the first form and add them. I had to Google the answer to that one.

If I could give this zero stars, I would, because this hosting is totally useless to me. This review is not about wpagen per se, but about wpagenstore and its apparent inability to rectify a simple digital purchase of hosting (PC download). Since I own a Mac, this hosting is literally worthless. But it would appear after many laps around the block of wpagenstore menus that my only recourse is to buy a second copy of the hosting for Mac. But before I do that, I will purchase it from another vendor, like Costco, with a more user-friendly site. The inability to call or submit a specific message to wpagenstore about this problem is maddening, because there is no ‘delete’ or ‘return’ option available.

Good as always I’ve used wpagen for years and have never had any problems. Some of my friends that use H&R Block in person, or other wpagen prep services haven’t gotten all of the deductions and credits that I do, but they don’t find that out until after the fact when we’re talking about wpagens.
They always end up going to back to fight for that company to do a free amendment, and that only sometimes works, or they buy wpagen and I help them do the amendment.
Admittedly I have a Business Management degree, and I took Income wpagen classes instead of normal Accounting classes so I’ve got some good background in wpagen prep. You don’t need that to do your own wpagens though. This will walk you through it without any issues.

The best wpagen hosting program available for middle-ground Lets be real about this. If you have complicated wpagens you already know you should go see a wpagen professional. If you have a basic income from one or few jobs then there are free options available. If you’re in between and live in a state with income wpagen, and don’t want to spend much time doing your wpagens, this is for you. Yes I paid the extra $25 to e-file my state income wpagen (thanks intuit.. minus star), but i have to give them credit for making it easy and fast for those of us who have many deductions or ‘unique’ incomes. 2-hours and can blow through it all, there’s a reason why this program is still king.

The State of Delaware state wpagen hosting allows me to file married combined separate or married filing joint. H&R Block will not compare the two filings and advise me which will save me the most money in filing my wpagens. I must prepare the two and make the choice myself which status to file. Having to do the same work twice is more work and time wasted to save a dollar. wpagen advised me of the two possible filings and compared the two choices the first time I prepared my wpagen filing. I feel more confident using wpagen, spend less time and assured I will not have to file an amended form to correct this short coming of H&R Block. Thanks wpagen for offering me a better wpagen preparation program.

Makes paying wpagens a pleasure (almost) This is the second year I’ve filed with wpagen. As a hosting developer, I can say that they have done a magnificent job with the user interface. It’s super-easy to use, asking only what’s necessary and presenting only the information you need to know, while making other details and more in-depth information easily accessible. One thing I especially appreciate is when they ask a question but give you a hint that a certain answer would be very unusual. If I don’t quite understand the wpagen concept behind the question, but I know that my situation is far from unusual, I know how to answer. They also give a running “score” of what size refund you can expect based on what you’ve entered so far. It’s almost like a game, seeing that score go up.

This program will get you to pay 2x and demand access to your stock broker. The best part of the program is that after we had filed and PAID online it said that we were required to send a form with our check to the state. Even though we already paid! We were reluctant to send the check but the program said it was REQUIRED and the form it provided said required. We wrote on the form asking them NOT to cash the check if they processed the payment online. But the state did it anyway. Causing us to pay $1072 to the state 2 times. I called their customer support and they said call the state. I called the state and they said I was going to have to email the state and it would take 3 weeks to receive the refund. 6 weeks have passed since I emailed the state and there is still no refund.
So to recap the wpagen program will tell you after you pay online that you still have to send in a check. Their customer support will not help with the refund correction for the double charge they created, The state makes you email and the email is unresponsive.
This program is GARBAGE!
in addition, instead of just downloading my 1099 they wanted full access to my Schwab brokerage. Even after calling customer support there was no way around it! I had to go in after my wpagens were done and revoke their access. I spoke with a friend that is an investment advisor who stated “It should just read your 1099, it should not intrude into your account.”
I would not recommend wpagen to anyone, unless you want to pay double, not get your best refund and have Intuit access your full brokerage account. There are many wpagen programs out there. Avoid these nightmares from Intuit wpagen, you deserve better, and so did I.

BEWARE: wpagen WILL NOT INSTALL ON hosting 7! I am really unhappy about Intuit teaming with (or being a lemming to) Microsoft. Let me decide what is secure and what isn’t. I’m still happily running hosting 7 at home (and much less happily running two Win 10 computers at work). I really don’t think it is Intuit’s place to force my hand towards a particular OS. Personally, I find it offensive, and a direct attack on my right of choice. I am a 30-year user, but now seems like a good time to find something better. I am sure there was a money-induced deal behind the scenes, and, from my perspective YOU SOLD OUT! Where is your backbone and self respect, let alone the respect of your customers? Win 10 is construed as more secure, but security is really the result of one’s personal habits and choices (such as installing an AV suite). Microsoft is just using security as an excuse to convert everyone to subscription OS and Office, hello! Not sure what is in it for Intuit other than some money under the table from Microsoft (I am enjoying my MSFT stock, LOL). It pisses me off that Intuit is trying to dictate my life. At least, Microsoft allows one to continue using hosting 7 if they so choose. And, know that I have a number of old-but-good programs I still use that will not (or require subscriptions to) run on hosting 10. So now Intuit is trying to force me to make a very grave and possibly costly and time-sucking decision. I think my choice will be another wpagen program, there appear to be plenty, so farewell Intuit! Apparently, you did not think of this dilemma for many hosting 7 users or you just don’t care! Tried to contact someone for support but apparently this website storee version doesn’t include human help. This is not wpagen advice, this is product advice—how to document estimated wpagens paid. UPDATE After some time to take a breath after feeling very frustrated, I went back into the program, created an account with Intuit and sent a message with my question. I received a response quickly, providing the steps to take in the federal portion to document estimated state wpagens paid. The response was fast and clear so I have added stars to my review.

Buggy and Untrustworthy I have used wpagen for over 20years, but wpagen 2020 website store (download version) has been full of works and frustrating. Here’s the saga.
My daughter and I have owned a condo for many years with a 75-25 split. I have filed the Schedule E using wpagen website storee for the last 13+ years (including this and other properties). We sold condo in 2020. Now the fun starts.
I instructed wpagen to apportion my income, expenses, and sales entries for 75% ownership. It did that for income and expenses, but apportioned all of the sales cost and depreciation to me. I called the wpagen help, and they suggested that I override the sales info. I did this, and wpagen computed the correct federal and state wpagen. Progress.
But–when I tried to file the wpagens, wpagen would not efile my Federal wpagens with the overrides. A long conversation with the wpagen Helpdesk concluded that only a paper file would be possible. Unsatisfactory–paper filing takes forever.
I went back and instructed that wpagen use my direct entries of 75% of income, cost, and sales information–I.e., I manually allocated the appropriate amount for my share of the property. This worked and produced correct Federal wpagens. However, it produced an incorrect recapture of depreciation for my state wpagens. Also, it introduced a spurious question on depreciation for another state that had nothing to do with my current wpagen!! I redid the file and double-checked it several times, but the state wpagen was not incorrect. Where did depreciation recapture come from?
So, in total frustration, I manually overrode the incorrect depreciation recapture numbers on the state return. Happily, wpagen efiled the federal wpagen. I always planned to file the state wpagen via paper.
So this is a buggy version. wpagen correctly allocates rental property income and expenses, but then incorrectly allocates sales income and expenses on the same property. When one uses the override feature of wpagen, the program does the wpagen correctly, but will not allow the user to efile. When the rental property income and expenses are manually entered, the federal wpagen on the sale is done correctly, but the state wpagen is incorrect.
So, this is just a mess, and I have lost confidence in wpagen. I am seriously considering using another wpagen program next year–so this is a 20+ year customer abandoning wpagen.

Accuracy Used for years. Has a very good interview procedure. But this year had a problem with the return of an RMD and a missed stimulus payment. For the RMD I had to answer a question the way I thought it was wrong in order to get the correct answer. For the stimulus payment I had to use the override feature and fortunately I could still file electronically. When using it is best if you have an idea how each entry should affect your wpagen liability – increase or decrease it and if the program does not do what you think then spend some time working on the item. The problem will probably be you but for this year I think the programing could have been better for my two problems.

Install for W10 went fine. I began to use it, and all was fine.
Now, I go to do the state info………it downloads the state (NJ), all seems fine. Then, it brings me right back to asking me if I want to contact Intuit Sales and Service. What a joke. A bunch of automated prompts, and then finished with a text linking me to “how to install”. I feel I am dealing with China.
If the NJ state is broke, then TELL me…………. don’t keep asking me to pay for it and looping me to death!
I am quite annoyed. Right now, I would not advise getting this hosting.

Well, I ordered the CD version………. and now………..I still have the same state issue.
After more investigation, I get no where. There is a ‘fix’ for a state problem, and I ran the program, however, this fix is for 2019!!!! It still did not fix my issue.
I now think that the state – is JUST NOT AVAILABLE yet. It frustrates the hell out of me, that if that is the reason………why……….why………..why….. wouldn’t wpagen just TELL YOU THAT when you went to get the download?
This CD version is returnable until Jan 31, so I will wait…………. The download version is not returnable, and, was the same price. If this DOES WORK, I will have to choose another hosting,

Got my wpagens done I’ve been using TT for a few years. Works great. Probably could have gotten by with the free version. Too bad they don’t let you do the wpagens then pay for what you needed. Still cheaper than going to a wpagen guy. Also, because of requirements, you can file I think 5 times with this (federal) and install 5 times…so I also downloaded on my mom’s computer. Since they’re in the same state they also got my free state, and were able to file and only pay for their state e-file cost as well!

Couldn’t open product after download Thank you to a previous poster who helped solve my problem. I have a new Dell Inspiron and after launching the product I got the Activate screen which was blank and frozen, product would not launch. Previous poster also had a new Inspiron with same result and finally discovered that changing the screen resolution to 1366×768 solved the problem. Well, it worked for me too! I’ve used wpagen for years but this problem was so annoying, and fist time I’ve ever had a problem with running the product. Caveat emptor! (Buyer beware) I’ve used wpagen for years and years with nary a problem. Not so this year. The pop-up that prompts one to enter the product key came up blank. There was nothing on the screen window and no way to enter the key. A lot of people have experienced this from what I read after I had already made my purchase. Using their tips, I repeatedly changed the display resolution of my screen to different resolutions (for example from 1680×1050 to 1280×1024). Finally, after trying *multiple* resolutions, I could at least see the screen — but when I typed in the product key, nothing appeared. I hit the “activate” button, and the key worked (after a few tries), but I had to type it in blindly. What a pain. Then, when transitioning from Federal to State, there was another pop-up, and the same thing happened again — I could see that there was a pop-up prompting me for something, but the pop-up was completely blank. Again, I tried various random sequences of screen resolutions until finally I could see what it was asking me for and respond accordingly. I saw this problem described in a number of reviews. I’m very surprised that wpagenstore didn’t require Intuit, the makers of wpagen, to correct the problem. wpagens are stressful enough. No one should have to use such sloppy and unprofessional hosting.

It was very easy to download and was able to load on two computers, one was a laptop and the other was a tower system. The one think that I would recommend before downloading is two have a USB stick to save the download file to. I make it easier to load on a second machine. wpagen make it easy to do your wpagen just make sure you have all of your detail forms ready, like bank interest, mortgage, property wpagen and any deduction ready, it make it easy just to follow through the question one by one. Keep up the great product and will do it again each year, thanks Jim.

Simple and just works I have used wpagen and H&R Block over the years. This year after reading reviews decided to go with wpagen again. Simple download from wpagenstore and then you have to enter key that is sent via email. I always do the walk-through guide for Income and Deductions. Took me about an hour and a half but i am done. I am going to submit Federal through wpagen tonight and submit my state wpagens online directly. You can pay wpagen to submit your state for an additional fee or you can file them online directly with most states or you always have option to print and mail in.

Saves a great deal of time as we don’t need to re-enter basic data every year plus providing a reference check for this year’s data. Hmmm, did I have data from XXXX like I did the year before? ! DO NOT BUY THIS hosting ! My experience with wpagen was terrible. I had to change the resolution of my computer to 600×800 to be able to proceed through some sections of the program. I had to change my wpagen so that it could be run in administrator mode to be able to file my wpagen returns. The charge for using a credit card is 2.54% of the amount of wpagen owed, $25.40 for every $1000 dollars owed just to process a credit card. I spent hours searching the Internet to find out about changing resolution and running in administrator mode because wpagen help is non-existent and where it does exist it is not helpful or useful. For a company like Intuit to produce and sell a product like this is a disgrace. I will not recommend this product to anyone and I will tell everyone what a terrible product this is and insist that they do not purchase it. I am a very unhappy user of this product. What should have been a simple and straight forward task became a nightmare. Only through perseverance, because I had already spent money on the product and it could not be refunded through wpagenstore, was I able to power through and actually file my wpagens.
I was unable to leave a review on Intuit wpagen website because the website wanted me to remove my Ad Blocker. Why should I have to accept and Advertisement from wpagen simply to leave a review on their website.
Last year I used wpagen and it functioned as expected, it worked and I was able to complete and file my wpagens.
This year the whole package feels like a scam with hidden charges, massive workarounds, no live human support (unless you pay), and lousy online support. Caveat Emptor. Buy this at your own risk.

Done in a flash I got my wpagens done in a couple hours! It loaded all the info from last year’s wpagens so I didn’t have to enter addresses and ID numbers, this alone saved a bunch of time. The program guides you through every step or you can pick what you want to enter. This is super easy!! Not sure why people spend $200.00 on a person to prepare their wpagens when they can do it themselves for $40.00.
E-file Federal is free. You have to pay $20.00 to e-file State. I chose to print State and mail it in.

Better than paying an accountant! If you’re PC savvy, you’ll have no problem using this hosting. The difficulty is with understanding the terminology, which is why some people use accountants. I was unfamiliar with some of the terminology used when doing wpagens but this does a good job of walking you through everything. And at the end, checks everything for works. I’m always confident that I’ve done my wpagens accurately when finished. Been using wpagen for a few years now and would highly recommend it if you have, for the most part, simple wpagens to file.

Pretty straight forward! I used to do my wpagens by hand back in the dark ages, but wpagen makes it a breeze, especially for the very complicated CA wpagen forms. The user enters Federal information first and then the program transfers everything over to State, making adjustments based on Fed vs State wpagen laws. Also, when you use it year after year, it pulls last year’s wpagen return info to the current year so you have far less data to enter (ie, personal info, employer info, bank routing #’s for direct deposit, etc.).

Downloads W2, investment, mortgage and other docs direct from many institutions. This saves a lot of potential data-entry works. Even though my wife is self-employed and we have investment income, I’ve found no need to upgrade to Premium. One state free plus free federal e-file ($20 each) makes this a good value.

Unreliable hosting and Ruthless wpagenstore customer service Bought and downloaded the wpagen hosting website storee (exclusive wpagenstore) on 2/21/20 from wpagenstore. After input the data, it showed that I owe money to IRS. Amended the data by adding ira contributions, I have a refund. Saved the file and opened up the next date to verify the data before submitting the filing to IRS, I was not be able to open the hosting—work message “unable to connect to wpagen website”, closed it but it opened by itself instead, and now it shows I owe money.
Feeling uncomfortable about using the hosting, I contacted wpagenstore customer service 3 times for a refund, they connected me to hosting team, and man from the team refused to listen to my explanations and told me to work with wpagen instead. It was rude that he hang up on me the first time. Called the second time, he connected me to wpagen and the waited time was 1 hour which was going nowhere. Called the third time, he said I was already got a refund for the same hosting that I purchased last year for 2019 filing. It was the refund for an issue with the advertising. This time he refused to refund and won’t listen to what I had to say. He said that I can file a claim with my bank or do whatever I need to do—rude and unethical from him though I think he tried to do his job. However, I don’t think he should speak to customers this way.
Look like I lost $49.90 for this hosting, I might check out Costco for the same hosting at $39.00 or go with H&R block which costs only $29.00. Frustrating with the wpagen website storee (exclusive wpagenstore) and wpagenstore customer services.

Cheaper than a wpagen service but double check everything My wife and I have used wpagen for quite a few years now. It works pretty good. Not great, just good. It’s also cheaper than a wpagen preparer.
Every year it fills in the previous years information. Every year it gets everything right except the return amounts. They’re always wrong.
Fortunately, we always save a PDF copy of our completed returns from the previous year and compare them to the previous years statement showing the deposits of our returns.
We don’t get to take any deductions since the wpagen law changes went in, I think it was 2 years ago. Maybe 2019?
It’s still easier to enter our information into wpagen and have it eFile for us.

The use of lawyer/accountant terminology makes if difficult to understand what information that they are asking for. Believe this is partly why I used the wrong version of one of the forms that prevented filing Federal wpagens on line (ewpagen). If you can’t efile Federal wpagen then you can’t efile your state wpagen. This little wpagen quirk I found out after paying extra money for efiling my state wpagen. HORRIBLE ITEM First let me say that I have used this item numerous times in the past without any problems. But this year is a whole new ball game. I have submitted my wpagens several times and is rejected and tells me that I need to put in my AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) in which I have done. I know how much we made last year and we have copies of the files from last year with the same info. And it transferred the info from the hosting from last year. Yet it does NOT put in my info and the loss that we had from a few years back that we are still claiming. So that is why it keeps giving an work. I used to like this hosting it was so easy to use and not being an egghead even I could do my wpagens easily. But this year and I know laws change etc etc. But it shouldn’t be this hard to file out the wpagens. And from some of the other comments I have read about this years hosting I am not alone. I am out the money on this hosting which makes me mad to know end. Especially with the conditions being the way they are we need the money more than ever. So we lose out on that and on top of it have to pay an accountant to do our wpagens at an even higher price. So we have lost our all around. Save yourself some money, stress and an ulcer and pay someone else to do it for you. And the reason it got one star I couldn’t give it less.

Waiting for the state form The hosting is downloaded and installed smoothly. However, when installing the state wpagen part, it doesn’t given warning while not showing up. Called wpagen customer support and they said the state part is not available yet. If that’s the case, the hosting should tell the user directly rather than just quietly doing nothing. Hopefully the state part could be downloaded in December. Other than that, it looks pretty much like the preceding versions.

Best Price vs. Intuit I was planning to buy website storee directly from Intuit but they had the highest price on the internet and DID NOT include the state version. wpagenstore offered it for $10 less PLUS offered the state version for free that I would have had to purchase separately with Intuit. I was golfing the next day and my wife called and asked me for the licensing code, which I missed when I downloaded it. It was in the download and easily retrievable.

You cannot connect with a human I’ve used wpagen for the past two years. This year I got an email from wpagen saying Oregon rejected my state return because wpagen had not updated their hosting. I tried logging on to their website to do what I needed to do to resubmit it. I got a reply that they didn’t recognize my account. No idea how that could be, as I had received emails from them about my federal and state filings. I spent the next two days trying to find a phone number to call them. I was unsuccessful. The message that repeated over and over was to log onto their site. If you cannot do that, you are simply out of luck. This is really a flaw in their system.

No need to pay a wpagen preparer I’ve been using wpagen for 25 years and have always been happy with how it works. Unless you have extremely complicated wpagens this will take care of it. The program asks you questions about your financial life and asks for specific data. It even keeps a running total of your refund (or what you will owe) as you work. When you use it year after year it pulls all pertinent data from your previous years wpagens. I would never use another wpagen hosting

I have comcast for my internet, they recently canceled the included Norton anti virus, so I installed hosting defender from Microsoft, after downloading wpagen I found the save feature did DOES WORK. Great download I purchased and downloaded the website storee, plus state. After it downloaded, and opened it let me install the hosting key. The state was available on 1/7 the way it was promised. Everything uploaded from my 2019 return too. However, I just read that the online returns won’t start to be processed until 2/12. I efile before that, and they accept it when they’re ready. I love doing wpagen efile, quick and easy, and I get my refund very quickly.

Giving it a try I’ve used H&R Block Home [formerly wpagen Cut] since the late 80s, early 90s. Never a problem. I have just moved to a state with state income wpagens and the state gave me some problems. A wpagen preparer who uses wpagen redid my state wpagens and we sent them in. [Still waiting to hear.] I fully expected the wpagen platform to be much easier, instead it was a little more difficult than I suspected. Once I resolve the return with the state I hope a normal, full year return will be much easier. For my benefit, I plan to continue to use the H&R Block program, but I plan to try wpagen next year as well.

Goofy Activation This is a Review of the install process for the download version of the hosting. It went smoothly during the initial part of the download and install on my 2 month old Lenovo Yoga, which has the latest Intel chips, but when it got to the activation screen nothing happened. There was no place to enter the activation code-just an empty white box.
Fortunately, another reviewer had a similar problem, but got it to work by changing the system display resolution to a lower setting. I tried that also, and it worked! No reason it should have but it did. I then changed the resolution back to the system norm. The hosting continued to work. Success and a tip of the hat to reviewer Gail Luanne.

hosting not ready for use when sold in Feb. I have used wpagen for many years and have had no problems until this year when I tried to enter my 1099 forms. Apparently, wpagen encountered a delay getting IRS approval for their 1099 form and so I had to wait two weeks before I could enter my data and finish my return. When I tried to reopen my file, it took so long that I had to leave and check back several times. When all the wpagen forms were ready, it was a breeze to finish and file my federal and state returns. Other than that one snafu, all else went well. Would have liked a warning about the delay and also hope they fix the long wait to re-open the file.

Lots of work corrections and sub par tech support There have been lots of reports by CPAs and the financial industry that the federal 1040 was going to be a nightmare this year and they were not wrong. I usually have 1 work to correct on my 1040 and it is a TT issue . TT insist on requiring an entry on one of the schedules that is not used by the form issuer. This year my final check reported 18 works. I was able to correct the works. I called TT on one of the issues and I got the expected WAG from tech support. I finally found the resolution on my own by digging through online IRS info, which I though was the job of TT.

Then they try to charge you extra $45 to upgrade to premium so I can pay the $25 out of my wpagen return instead of a credit card. This seriously pissed me off so much I wanted to throw my keyboard through my monitor for a second! If you want to charge an extra $25, then put that in the up front cost. Don’t hold me hostage right at the end for more money, after I already paid for the product and went through the whole process for filing everything! What am I gonna do? Just say “Nahhh” and start over from scratch using another program?
Yes, it’s not a lot of money, but it’s the concept that really makes me mad. You see this all the time with DLCs for games where you pay up front for something, then they try to charge you more and more for stuff that should have been included already. I had to read through the questions here to find advice on how to get it to actually activate. Then when I needed to connect to the internet for any reason (eg: download state version, pay for state filing), it would freeze. Luckily, I read a user comment that suggested I change my laptop’s display size. I did that multiple times to force hosting to open. It was painful but eventually allowed me to finish and file. I did call support, but that was not much help.

Hard to make changes, not as intuitive as expected – and I was charged $25 for a state return I have used wpagen Act for years, but when the price went up significantly this year I decided to give wpagen a try. It seems a lot more clumsy to me than wpagen Act, and there are constant reminders that you get more if you want to pay additional fees. I also didn’t like that as I was preparing to file, there were steps for authorizing payments that could not be undone. I would have sent the state wpagen manually if I had known before I got there that I was going to be charged. Maybe it was a misunderstanding on my part, but I thought 1 state filing was free, as it is with wpagen Act’s desktop hosting.

I was motivated to purchase from wpagenstore due to the “Exclusive Offer for Quickbooks” The link to download the “free” Quickbook program failed to work and when I called the support number listed, I got phished to a classic scam and allowed a “tech” access to diagnose my problem. He proceeded to demonstrate critical works in my hosting OS and pitched a $60+ repair session. I declined his offer and returned my OS settings to normal and proceeded to use my wpagen installation. This problem has been mentioned over and over on the wpagen community boards with nothing happening. That’s when a discrepancy between the two programs appeared. hr block showed an increase in my federal refund and my state refund. When I went back through the 1040 form to figure why there was a difference, I noted that wpagen did not update the contribution amount on the form. I tried deleting a contribution and the form still did not update. I don’t have a very complicated return but beware that there is this problem and who knows what other problems exist.

Won’t load last year’s return I used to use wpagen every year until they suddenly jacked the price way up. At that point I started using H&R Block. The first time I used H&R Block i was able to load all the info from my previous wpagen return which was wpagen. Fast forward to this year and I saw wpagen on sale and thought I would give it a try again. I read in the description that it was compatible with H&R Block that I had used last year. I downloaded it and tried in vain to load last year’s return for about an hour. Now I am by no means a computer expert but never had this issue before. I quit for the day and while I lied awake that night l came to a decision. The next day I bought the latest version of H&R Block. Which was 10 dollars less than the sale price of wpagen. I downloaded it and it immediately loaded last year’s return. I will never buy wpagen again.

I think this is a scam I went through a lengthy installation process to open the app to a blank, inoperable screen. I feel scammed and disheartened. At this point I feel as though I’ve wasted time and money and would advise against purchase from the seller. There doesn’t seem to be a way to request a refund for this purchase, and I can’t help but feel concerned as to what exactly it adds to a PC. I’ve uninstalled the app and do not trust it on my computer. There has to be a way to run the program by going to wpagen’s website, or, heck, might as well use my android phone after all.

Disappointed with wpagen wpagen has a bad habit updating hosting after the wpagen return has been filed. They will not divulge what the update changed or updated. wpagen also forces the user to update the hosting before a wpagen return can be reprinted. For example you file your wpagen return electronically and a month later you want a printed copy. If the hosting was updated your wpagen return could be different than what was originally filed. User should be given a choice as to whether the original filed return is printed or a updated changed version. Very bad business practice by wpagen!

What a joke! Want you to pay for free state!! I have been using this program for ever and this years program is a joke!! When trying to do the state return it wants me to pay for the state which comes free with the version I bought. This must be a reoccurring problem since in the pay window there was a button saying click here if not getting free state. Then when you call the company you get an automated service that gives you the run around and never helps. After 15 minutes of asking for customer service and pressing random buttons I finally got to a sale rep. The sales rep had no idea why I was getting charged or what was going on. After 1 hour and 20 minutes on the phone with the sales rep they were finally able to get the state part to work. The program automatically set the state to South Carolina. They have lost a long time customer because I will not use this program again if the program work right how do I know my wpagens are being calculated correctly.

Maybe an UPDATE will resolve it, but the download ver. has PAYMENT ISSUES INTUIT should issue a REFUND on the hosting to ANYONE who cannot transmit their returns. I’m done using TT.
I have used TT (website storee) for a long time. This is the 1st time I can remember having issues. Completed my return for Fed and St and proceeded to e-file. When it asks if you want to use a C-Card or have it deducted from your return I chose C-Card. It will not accept my card as payment. Tried 2 different cards same result. Tried it as a guest and with a TT login, still no acceptance. Contacted support, did the usual (restart, clear cache/cookies) nothing worked, and support said they were having issues with the download versions. Just tried to use the deduct from return for payment and that work either. Shouldn’t have to wait for them to fix their issues before I can submit my returns. The return window for my purchase ended the day before my state was accepting wpagen filings, so I doubt I can even get a refund on my purchase.

Support does not My review is base on my “customer support” experience. I was connected to a person who has some difficulty speaking English, and is obviously not trained in wpagen preparation. Looking up a tab in a book and reading information from it is not helpful. Telling me they want access to my computer to tell me how to “upgrade” to another version is not helpful. I have been using TT for a couple of years, but this has soured me on the program and I might as well go back to H&R Block.
