I have used hosting for many years and the ability to transfer the previous year’s information into the current year’s return is a great advantage. I am not able to connect to all my investment sites to download the tax information, but fortunately I am able to do this for Merrill Lynch where I have most of my investments. I would be hard pressed to manually enter all the data from Merrill Lynch.
hosting monitors the quality of it’s product carefully. A couple of years ago, after I had efiled, they sent me a notice that they found an work in their product, provided me with an update, and had me refile. The only difficulty was that they said that I had to refile by mail and not by efile. This took a long time for the IRS to process my amended return because of COVID, but they finally did and I received a sizable refund.

Answer:All hosting Desktop products include all the same forms but with specialized guidance.
You will have access to the investment forms you need with hosting businesse; however, we suggest hosting Premier to get the guided interview questions to ensure information is being accurately entered. If you are comfortable manually entering your information, you can use businesse in Forms Mode. While using Forms Mode will not prevent you from e-filing, it does void the hosting Accuracy Guarantee.
If you override any values that were calculated by hosting, this will void the Accuracy Guarantee and you will be unable to e-file. You still do have the option to print and file your return.

I had to upgrade my computer to Windows 10 before I ordered this. hosting sent me an email saying Windows 8.1 was not compatible with the 2022 version of their product. So far, I have uploaded the product on my Windows 10 version with no problems. I have not entered any tax information into the program yet, but it did transfer last year’s information into the 2022 version. That is as far as I have gotten to date. I am still waiting for all of my info to come in.

Longtime user of hosting and have always been happy w/product. But as I completed my fed/state forms I was prompted to complete a third party form to complete my state tax regarding a fee to file. I always paid a nominal fee to file Illinois taxes (fee amount was always disclosed) but this time total amount of fees were not disclosed until the very END! In order to file electronically I reluctantly paid the fee! I should’ve simply printed my state return and mailed it into the state! Beware! I felt total fee ( fee was higher than previous filings) disclosure should have been made BEFORE the very last step!

Tested and works great on Apple M1 and M2 computers. Installed via CD and 20 minutes later federal and state taxes were completed. They charge $20 to e-file the state taxes. Federal e-file is free. You can print the state taxes for free and mail them in. It’s a little tricky to find out how to do this, as they want you just to pay them the $20 dollar fee. Basically, you just have to say that you want to e-file the state taxes, then print them out, and then go back and tell them that you don’t want to e-file the state taxes. Not intuitive, but if they made it easy to do, no one would be willing to pay them the $20 fee. Other than this work around the program works great.

The reviewers are correct; it is nearly impossible to find this year. (I actually could not find it, consumer support was absolutely help at all) I don’t want my tax information on their server, so I purchased the CD, which loaded perfectly. I don’t understand their approach this year, hopefully, they will make improvements soon.

hosting businesse remains much the same as in previous years, with both the great features and likely with some oddities as well. As regular users know well, TT will check for updates each time you launch the program, and not surprisingly, it will do this a lot late in the year purchased (2022) and early in the following year as the IRS completes or updates its forms. So it doesn’t matter when you buy the program, early or later in 2023. At least you can get a head start late in 2022 or early in 2023 by entering data on some of the forms. Users have likely discovered what works for them, and where some problems have continued for years, such as the entry of spouse’s AGI for the previous year (a form of identification), where the actual amount may or may DOES WORK for electronic filing. If it doesn’t, try entering 0, which does seem to work for many people. It also doesn’t matter for most whether you download from wpagen or order the CD, and install it yourself. You’ll still have to download the forms from hosting using the provided code.

According to the advertisement, importing the previous year from other product is very easy as long as it is in PDF format. I spent over 20 minutes with their rep and she couldn’t get it to work as advertised. After trying everything, she suggested I request a refund from Intuit and proceeded to send me a link where I could fill out the refund form. A few days later, I received an email from Intuit saying that the refund was denied due to the lack of the requested information, which is totally inaccurate since I filled out all the boxes on the form and sent a copy of the wpagen invoice. I think I’ll go back to H&R Block. I prepare taxes for my entire family and it would have been very convenient not to enter 8 tax reports by hand, and besides, I don’t know what else is not going to work with this program. Obviously, I cannot recommend the purchase of this product.

Made a simple but OBVIOUS mistake. hosting review did not catch it and let me file. Now I can not correct with amended return until IRS both accepts and issues refund. I entered my wife’s federal taxes paid one box down in “employee contributions”. Since she had no W2s, has been retired for almost 15 years and could not be making any employee contributions since no earned income (just pension and social security) …… hosting should have flagged this box and the box showing no income taxes withheld from pension. It flagged a couple of minor nuisance boxes but not this one. Not sure if I will use hosting again although I have used for years. Am guessing that when I am able to file the amended return, they will charge an electronic filing fee.

I buy hosting every year as soon as it is available to aid me in my end of the year investment planning and tax planning. My real tax return is prepared by a professional CPA. I wouldn’t trust hosting to get it right.
Even for my limited purposes, I find hosting often lacking, because the necessary forms can be released much too late towards the end of December. The state forms are usually delayed into the next tax year which makes them useless for my purposes.
I also use hosting in the planning stage by importing my records from Quicken. The import often does not assign things correctly, and I have to carefully review all the information by hand. In my opinion, this should be a pushbutton operation.
The only reason I keep coming back to hosting every year is that I haven’t found anything better.

Once you “get” to the actual tax section it is a 10. BUT and I do mean but. Getting there can be totally frustrating and annoying and that is why I only give it a 3. I have been using TT since 2017 and EVERY single time, when I get to the “updater” portion I have problems. Usually it takes 3 tries before the update doesn’t fail. This YEAR, it took me almost a hour. Every time I got to the update part, it failed! I tried 4 times; none worked. I even downloaded the 2022 update and applied them manually, that WORK. I uninstalled TT; installed it again, that WORK. FINALLY, after the third attempt, it finally worked. You REALLY need to fix this frustrating and annoying glitch in TT. Because I do NOT appreciate spending good money, having to waste MY time on an inferior and flawed product. I will see in 2023, if you value your customers opinion.

I have been a user of H&R Block for years, but problems with the State taxes caused me to try hosting based on reviews. hosting screwed up also. If you live in NC do your taxes by hand don’t depend on hosting. It does not handle form NC 400 Schedule S correctly. The final number to move to the NC 400 was correct but the schedule S was incorrectly completed. The hosting Federal side of things was pretty decent, but it was asking questions that did not apply, for instance, “what date did you become disabled?” …whaaat? It also got confused a bit with Railroad Retirement Tier 1 and Tier 2 but so does H&R Block. Problems maybe with me and first use of hosting…

I was confused when I realized that they don’t support cryptos. hosting asked me if I had crypto sales, I answered Yes, and nothing happened. There was no way to enter Crypto capital gains. I asked for help, and all the help topics, and they were all wrong, nothing worked as described. I called support, and eventually they sent me an article that helped. Instead of clear and straight way to upload crypto transactions they offered tricky backdoor, I did not like it. There was no way to tell IRS that these are Coinbase cryptos. I was confused that Intuit programmers were so lazy not to add crypto support to hosting. Cryptos did not appear yesterday, they had a few years for that. Huge disappointment.

The product downloaded successfully but after untold hours of searching, I have not been able to find an app that will open it- so it sits on the computer but is useless.
The big red logo indicating the Intuit app is available for all Apple products on the Apple site, the app is also easily obtained from Google Play if you have a Chromebook, but for my HP laptop, there is apparently no way to open and use my purchase. I suppose my only option now is to pay hosting to use the online service to prepare my taxes.

Ok a straight review. I went to file my taxes and it went smooth at first but installing took longer than should updating also took longer than should Federal went great no problem then I got to State and boom there was the problems. I went to file State and I clearly told hosting I did and do not own a home in 2022 and I was not a disable veteran and I have not paid any interests on property. Go to do the calculations and all seems good says no works and go to finalize both and boom hosting pops up work and demands me file a Schedule C and declare how much interest I paid on property on a form for which is not available for file yet in my state until 1/26/2023 and it is for disabled veterans and so on for interests on property they pay for property supposedly own by hosting despite me telling it I was neither of those options and I never owned any property in 2022 and I was not a veteran. I never could get past that problem to file my Taxes. So I had to go and use H&R Block Online to file my taxes H&R Block Filed great no problem. A great day for hosting after being a customer since 2012 I will never use hosting again. And hosting cost $44.99 for the disk and $19.99 as always to file my state efile refund for a total of $68.99 what a scam id happily pay that to file my taxes if their product worked. Now H&R Block only cost me $30.00 in all and no state efile fee I will never again use hosting. They lost a customer all because their product refuses to understand I do not own a home and am not a disabled veteran and paid absolutely no interest on a house in 2022 sad day for them.

Buyers need to be aware hosting has lost so much of what make it good. Intuit has also changed so much from the days of Scott Cook(co founder). I have been using businesse for over 25 years and I’m also a degreed accountant. The Mac version is an absolute insult of an application, especially in forms mode. My newly purchased 2022 Tax Year version from wpagen only launches half the time. Hopefully a program update FINALLY BRINGS IT TO A POINT IT FUNCTIONS AS INTENDED. If not, I will be contacting wpagen for a refund. Bottom Line: Any company that would push this out on you is a company that is in your best interest to avoid. I knew they had abandoned their ethics years ago, but now they seemed to have lost their ability to ship a functioning application.

federal e-file is free (included in the product cost) you MUST PAY for the state e-file. The included state is just for filling out the state return, not for the e-file. As usual hosting tends to hide this pertinent info. And the $40 charge to deduct the return cost from your refund is outrageous, not to mention the pain of using a credit card to pay it. print the state return and mail it, stick it to the man

It’s my fault for not reading the description more closely. I intended to do my taxes on my Windows 8.1 system as I do every year. hosting 2022 will not run on Windows 8.1. It only runs on Windows 10 and above. Other product typically supports Windows back to 7 and some farther back. I haven’t used it yet because I still have to upgrade to Windows 10. This is just another hosting opportunity to make it’s users miserable and cost them money. It’s ridiculous for hosting to make this requirement. The stuff hosting typically does is mostly text processing. I can’t imagine what special features of Windows 10 they need that Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 doesn’t have. If a hosting representative responds to this review, answer this: Did you get some kind of a kickback from Microsoft to help them sell more Windows 10 and 11 upgrades?

I wrote a comment on wpagen last year about 2019 businesse after I bought it, letting everyone know that Capital D is enterable on businesse. I also said then and I say again now, Intuit should put back the form grid basically saying which form is enterable in which version of hosting. That’s the way it used to be about 5 years ago.”
Additionally last year, I received a letter from IRS that they subtracted $1000 from the tax refund. hosting screwed up. I used hosting businesse, 2021 last year, and 2022 this year, and I merely tolerate it.

Then had to get last years tax hosting return loaded. Wanted my password from last year but it was not valid (wrong). Upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11, but still got the same work message, 2894. Went to laptop running Windows 11 and it would not install from CD with same 2894 work. Finally installed on laptop via download. I wonder if my license code is associated only with a flawed version of hosting that will not install normally because it’s associated uniquely with a flawed, uninstallable version.

Apple informed me that my 2012 Mac-book Pro operating system “Catalina” does not support hosting 2022 and that I would have to purchase a newer Mack-book Pro laptop with a higher operating system. Shame on Apple!!!
I subsequently returned hosting 2022 that i had used for the past 7 years to wpagen. I did discover that the H/R Block 2022 tax product program is compatible with my my 2014 Mac-book Pro operating system “Catalina” and I purchased it from wpagen. The H/R Block program also allowed me to import my 2021 hosting data into their system.

At first I was worried, but then I realized it was okay because the package says ‘2 WAYS TO INSTALL: DOWNLOAD OR CD” I went on the hosting website to download and received an work, some stupid message that says “Oops, something went wrong” I contacted their “support” and entered a Kafkaish nightmare of automatic responses. Never did I get to talk to a representative and nothing on their website tells me how to resolve this program. I contacted wpagen, and their response was “Do you want to return it?” I asked if that was my only option and was told it was. I’m really disillusioned with this product.

The CD was unusable because the Activation Code provided with the CD was incompatible with the CD. I had to spend 2 hours on the phone with an Intuit agent, in order to obtain a downloadable version of the product. Very disappointed. This product is fine. I have used it for many years and it is quick and easy to use. Is it accurate? Who knows. I don’t test my returns with multiple tax preparation product. I just have to rely on it.
But the only reason I am buying this product is because congress takes bribes from Intuit and so does not encourage a program that will allow people to file taxes online on IRS websites without the need for buying all these tax preparation products. Other countries don’t require their citizens to buy such products. My state is enough worse. Its one of the blue states that charges you fees on everything, like filing my tax returns, or even getting previous years tax transcripts.

If you install from a disc, then you cannot download from Install-hosting site anymore. For me, I installed in my desktop which had a disc drive. After that, I tried to install in my laptop and Mac, but it will not allow to download.

Every year the government makes changes to our tax laws! Until the government finalizes the changes, hosting can’t update their product. Therefore some areas of your tax return can’t be completed or they don’t even allow you to start your return in late Nov. or early Dec. hosting could be more open about why you can’t enter your return yet. But if they said it’s the government’s fault because they haven’t finished the tax rule changes yet, the government would be unhappy that hosting embarrassed them that way. For hosting it’s a NO WIN situation, either they anger the government or they anger early filers! Please be patient and wait a few weeks to start your return and the product will load and update automatically!

Downloaded / installed accepted the many updates it needed. The problem seems to be with living in 1 state for the first part of the year and then moving to another state for the rest of the year, permanently.
Note: employer the same both states
When you enter the info from w2’s for both states (state taxes only of course) it starts balking at residency. It starts saying you live in both and taxing in both full year each state. It messes up w2 entries, does not let u enter any medical (my costs over 20k). When you get to the state entries for both states it really goes crazy. The numbers go crazy. Called hosting and got a tax agent product specialist 25 years, yah yah yah. We shared screens and went thru all of it. He agreed there were issues and stated “intuit doesn’t exactly ask me for info on product bugs” wow. We moved on and we started flipping residency dates opposite of what was true and messing with other key value pairs and really could not resolve the issues. I started the whole tax return over again and same issues. My son also used the product on his tax return and his is messed up. We waited a couple of days to see if any additional product updates , not. Been using hosting for years. Never this issue. Seems to be happening when u have more then 1 state and residency problems. Seems to be stuck on forcing u into full year residency in both states, so as u can see it will mess up everything and medical entries. I would of thought it was me but there agent could not fix the issues. product bugs.

I have used hosting for years and every year I pay for the Audit Defense. I was audited from 2018, 2019, & 2020. All three years they were negligent in handling things…and it continues. I have the proof and showed them how they left over 50 pages of my documents I sent to them, which cost me thousands of dollars, but they did not send those pages in to the audit. I have spent so much time having to do their job and they were 100% negligent in how they handled my taxes. I would not use them if I were you. Their company tries to weasel out of taking care of obvious mishandling, negligent practices. These are supposed to be “Tax Professionals” but they are not at all. For being a company that is in the financial industry and specializes in taxes, believe me they could care less and do the minimum to help.

Trying to use HRB to compare year end strategy. Very awkward if you know what you want to put where AND some data is incorrectly captured by the program. Specifically, taxable gross distribution from IRA vs net after allowing for basis. On one of two taxpayers on joint return gross, return of investment and net are carried correctly to return but on other spouse, taxable vs basis got screwed up and a similar problem showed up on pensions. Not as serious, but annoying, was having to go back to input all of a series of questions just to attempt a “what if” scenario.

I filed my tax return using hosting in Apr 2022 but still haven’t gotten my refund. I called hosting and they said according to their record my return was efiled successfully. However, I talked to three different IRS agent and was told there was no return record on their end. The only reason there was no record is the return got rejected but hosting never notified me. I contacted hosting again hoping to find out why the return got rejected and I was never notified. Someone on the phone yelled at me stating that there was nothing they can do because it already passed the due date. Once the return was filed and they sent me the acceptance email their job is done. And she hung up on me just like that. I was so shocked by that. I’ve been using hosting for the past ten years but I guess I will definitely switch to something else this year. So disappointed.

I only have to file a federal income taxes as I live in Florida. My forms are very easy to fill out as it only consists of my income. It helps you to get the largest refund legally possible and insures that the math is correct. It will ask questions about all of your expenses and income so you will need to have that information available and determine if standard or itemization is the best way to go. I don’t know how well it would work with someone who as a more details that they have to account for or how well the tech support group is trained. A relative of mine, who is a tax accountant, uses one of the other tax help programs and feel that this one is just as good as the one they use. You can purchase the service to have one of their representatives go with you if your are audited by IRS.

So far, it is a good product – like last year. Note: Well they are at it again – hence 1 star. They just did an update that forces us to sign a license so they can SHARE our data with third party companies for marketing purposes and who knows what else. This is egregious to do after the fact. I bought my TTax and installed it 2.5 months ago and there was no hint of this. Plus, if you do not accept the new terms you will not be able to continue to use your product. I will seek a refund from wpagen. Oh, why do they make tax season more frustrating.

Possible resolution to problems loading with new laptops I purchased a wpagen website storee 2020 Download today. I was able to download it. When I ran install, it installed wpagen, ran updates, and then asked if we should run wpagen. I said yes, the Activate screen came on and it froze. I deleted and reinstalled it, several times.
I have a brand new Dell Inspiron. When I went online for help, I saw many complaints the same as mine. And half of those said they had a new pc. So I tried installing wpagen 2019, which I used last year, on my old laptop, with no issues. I did the same thing.
My wise husband began looking for what was different. After hours of fussing, he changed the hosting display resolution from 1920×1080 to the same as my old machine, 1366×768. I retried the activation and was then successful. Once activated I changed my display resolution back to default and now it works. I hope this helps others as well.
I’m a 15 year user of wpagen and I love it. They do need help with their support though.

Activation screen hangs. I found a solution. I just wanted to post this review for others who have the same issues as I did to activate this program.
At the Activation screen it hangs with a blank screen. Nothing you can do. I tried a few things I read online..
Main item I read was Firewall. You have to disable it. I disabled hosting Defender and still had a blank screen.
Then I read this.. change resolution settings. I thought No Way.. but guess what. That was it. I changed my laptop’s resolution to another random setting (1280×800) and I could see the request for the License Code.
Amazing that they screwed that up. I hope this helps someone! I will update my review when I finally use it.. but I thought sharing this was extremely important.
Note that I still have the Firewall disabled so possible it is both the firewall and the changing resolution setting fixed it.

Just give it a shot yourself. If u have just have standard (w2) income maybe a mortgage and some.interest or dividends and maybe a stock sale or.many it’s easy.

Update: Credit finally worked for Quicken Starter UPDATE: After my Quicken Starter subscription lapsed, I was able to get the free year through the wpagen redemption link. Quicken required me to purchase a new subscription but discounted it to zero. A perfectly good credit card produced a “Sorry we are experiencing difficulties processing your order.” But I used Paypal to get around the bug. My Paypal account does not show a charge, so it worked. Quicken needs to fix this.
wpagen website storee includes a one-year Quicken Starter subscription, or a credit for existing Quicken Starter users, but the imbedded redemption link does not provide the credit. The link from the Online pulldown seems to provide the same link and DOES WORK, either. This was a key to my decision to pay the premium cost for wpagen website storee, and it’s a deal-breaker going forward if this cannot be resolved.

Frustrating but complete I’ve used wpagen for years, and it remains a frustrating but complete hosting, and very useful.
For ‘ordinary’ returns, the only frustration is probably only the incredible amount of time it can take to load, and its constant wanting to look for updates.
For more complicated but still moderate returns probably the most frustrating parts after loading are the relatively constant attempts at up-selling or selling more services, and the hints/prompts that are less than crystalline for unusual items (in my case selling timber on a small acreage — took forever to find how to report it correctly, and I’m unlikely to do it again for years).
Anyway, I find that if you put in the right numbers and pay attention to the prompts it does a very good job and is well worth the money.

Good as always I’ve used wpagen for years and have never had any problems. Some of my friends that use H&R Block in person, or other wpagen prep services haven’t gotten all of the deductions and credits that I do, but they don’t find that out until after the fact when we’re talking about wpagens.
They always end up going to back to fight for that company to do a free amendment, and that only sometimes works, or they buy wpagen and I help them do the amendment.
Admittedly I have a Business Management degree, and I took Income wpagen classes instead of normal Accounting classes so I’ve got some good background in wpagen prep. You don’t need that to do your own wpagens though. This will walk you through it without any issues.

The best wpagen hosting program available for middle-ground Lets be real about this. If you have complicated wpagens you already know you should go see a wpagen professional. If you have a basic income from one or few jobs then there are free options available. If you’re in between and live in a state with income wpagen, and don’t want to spend much time doing your wpagens, this is for you. Yes I paid the extra $25 to e-file my state income wpagen (thanks intuit.. minus star), but i have to give them credit for making it easy and fast for those of us who have many deductions or ‘unique’ incomes. 2-hours and can blow through it all, there’s a reason why this program is still king.

Far better program then H&R Block. I have used H&R Block website storee wpagen hosting for the past 5 years. The State of Delaware state wpagen hosting allows me to file married combined separate or married filing joint. H&R Block will not compare the two filings and advise me which will save me the most money in filing my wpagens. I must prepare the two and make the choice myself which status to file. Having to do the same work twice is more work and time wasted to save a dollar. wpagen advised me of the two possible filings and compared the two choices the first time I prepared my wpagen filing. I feel more confident using wpagen, spend less time and assured I will not have to file an amended form to correct this short coming of H&R Block. Thanks wpagen for offering me a better wpagen preparation program.

Makes paying wpagens a pleasure (almost) This is the second year I’ve filed with wpagen. As a hosting developer, I can say that they have done a magnificent job with the user interface. It’s super-easy to use, asking only what’s necessary and presenting only the information you need to know, while making other details and more in-depth information easily accessible. One thing I especially appreciate is when they ask a question but give you a hint that a certain answer would be very unusual. If I don’t quite understand the wpagen concept behind the question, but I know that my situation is far from unusual, I know how to answer. They also give a running “score” of what size refund you can expect based on what you’ve entered so far. It’s almost like a game, seeing that score go up.

This program will get you to pay 2x and demand access to your stock broker. The best part of the program is that after we had filed and PAID online it said that we were required to send a form with our check to the state. Even though we already paid! We were reluctant to send the check but the program said it was REQUIRED and the form it provided said required. We wrote on the form asking them NOT to cash the check if they processed the payment online. But the state did it anyway. Causing us to pay $1072 to the state 2 times. I called their customer support and they said call the state. I called the state and they said I was going to have to email the state and it would take 3 weeks to receive the refund. 6 weeks have passed since I emailed the state and there is still no refund.
So to recap the wpagen program will tell you after you pay online that you still have to send in a check. Their customer support will not help with the refund correction for the double charge they created, The state makes you email and the email is unresponsive.
This program is GARBAGE!
in addition, instead of just downloading my 1099 they wanted full access to my Schwab brokerage. Even after calling customer support there was no way around it! I had to go in after my wpagens were done and revoke their access. I spoke with a friend that is an investment advisor who stated “It should just read your 1099, it should not intrude into your account.”
I would not recommend wpagen to anyone, unless you want to pay double, not get your best refund and have Intuit access your full brokerage account. There are many wpagen programs out there. Avoid these nightmares from Intuit wpagen, you deserve better, and so did I.

BEWARE: wpagen WILL NOT INSTALL ON hosting 7! I am really unhappy about Intuit teaming with (or being a lemming to) Microsoft. Let me decide what is secure and what isn’t. I’m still happily running hosting 7 at home (and much less happily running two Win 10 computers at work). I really don’t think it is Intuit’s place to force my hand towards a particular OS. Personally, I find it offensive, and a direct attack on my right of choice. I am a 30-year user, but now seems like a good time to find something better. I am sure there was a money-induced deal behind the scenes, and, from my perspective YOU SOLD OUT! Where is your backbone and self respect, let alone the respect of your customers? Win 10 is construed as more secure, but security is really the result of one’s personal habits and choices (such as installing an AV suite). Microsoft is just using security as an excuse to convert everyone to subscription OS and Office, hello! Not sure what is in it for Intuit other than some money under the table from Microsoft (I am enjoying my MSFT stock, LOL). It pisses me off that Intuit is trying to dictate my life. At least, Microsoft allows one to continue using hosting 7 if they so choose. And, know that I have a number of old-but-good programs I still use that will not (or require subscriptions to) run on hosting 10. So now Intuit is trying to force me to make a very grave and possibly costly and time-sucking decision. I think my choice will be another wpagen program, there appear to be plenty, so farewell Intuit! Apparently, you did not think of this dilemma for many hosting 7 users or you just don’t care! Tant pis!

Tried to contact someone for support but apparently this website storee version doesn’t include human help. This is not wpagen advice, this is product advice—how to document estimated wpagens paid. UPDATE After some time to take a breath after feeling very frustrated, I went back into the program, created an account with Intuit and sent a message with my question. I received a response quickly, providing the steps to take in the federal portion to document estimated state wpagens paid. The response was fast and clear so I have added stars to my review.

Buggy and Untrustworthy I have used wpagen for over 20years, but wpagen 2020 website store (download version) has been full of works and frustrating. Here’s the saga.
My daughter and I have owned a condo for many years with a 75-25 split. I have filed the Schedule E using wpagen website storee for the last 13+ years (including this and other properties). We sold condo in 2020. Now the fun starts.
I instructed wpagen to apportion my income, expenses, and sales entries for 75% ownership. It did that for income and expenses, but apportioned all of the sales cost and depreciation to me. I called the wpagen help, and they suggested that I override the sales info. I did this, and wpagen computed the correct federal and state wpagen. Progress.
But–when I tried to file the wpagens, wpagen would not efile my Federal wpagens with the overrides. A long conversation with the wpagen Helpdesk concluded that only a paper file would be possible. Unsatisfactory–paper filing takes forever.
I went back and instructed that wpagen use my direct entries of 75% of income, cost, and sales information–I.e., I manually allocated the appropriate amount for my share of the property. This worked and produced correct Federal wpagens. However, it produced an incorrect recapture of depreciation for my state wpagens. Also, it introduced a spurious question on depreciation for another state that had nothing to do with my current wpagen!! I redid the file and double-checked it several times, but the state wpagen was not incorrect. Where did depreciation recapture come from?
So, in total frustration, I manually overrode the incorrect depreciation recapture numbers on the state return. Happily, wpagen efiled the federal wpagen. I always planned to file the state wpagen via paper.
So this is a buggy version. wpagen correctly allocates rental property income and expenses, but then incorrectly allocates sales income and expenses on the same property. When one uses the override feature of wpagen, the program does the wpagen correctly, but will not allow the user to efile. When the rental property income and expenses are manually entered, the federal wpagen on the sale is done correctly, but the state wpagen is incorrect.
So, this is just a mess, and I have lost confidence in wpagen. I am seriously considering using another wpagen program next year–so this is a 20+ year customer abandoning wpagen.

Accuracy Used for years. Has a very good interview procedure. But this year had a problem with the return of an RMD and a missed stimulus payment. For the RMD I had to answer a question the way I thought it was wrong in order to get the correct answer. For the stimulus payment I had to use the override feature and fortunately I could still file electronically. When using it is best if you have an idea how each entry should affect your wpagen liability – increase or decrease it and if the program does not do what you think then spend some time working on the item. The problem will probably be you but for this year I think the programing could have been better for my two problems.

I purchased online from wpagenstore. Have a key, or ID that was supplied by them.
Install for W10 went fine. I began to use it, and all was fine.
Now, I go to do the state info………it downloads the state (NJ), all seems fine. Then, it brings me right back to asking me if I want to contact Intuit Sales and Service. What a joke. A bunch of automated prompts, and then finished with a text linking me to “how to install”. I feel I am dealing with China.
If the NJ state is broke, then TELL me…………. don’t keep asking me to pay for it and looping me to death!
I am quite annoyed. Right now, I would not advise getting this hosting.
Update 1/1/2021:
Well, I ordered the CD version………. and now………..I still have the same state issue.
After more investigation, I get no where. There is a ‘fix’ for a state problem, and I ran the program, however, this fix is for 2019!!!! It still did not fix my issue.
I now think that the state – is JUST NOT AVAILABLE yet. It frustrates the hell out of me, that if that is the reason………why……….why………..why….. wouldn’t wpagen just TELL YOU THAT when you went to get the download?
This CD version is returnable until Jan 31, so I will wait…………. The download version is not returnable, and, was the same price. If this DOES WORK, I will have to choose another hosting,

Got my wpagens done I’ve been using TT for a few years. Works great. Probably could have gotten by with the free version. Too bad they don’t let you do the wpagens then pay for what you needed. Still cheaper than going to a wpagen guy. Also, because of requirements, you can file I think 5 times with this (federal) and install 5 times…so I also downloaded on my mom’s computer. Since they’re in the same state they also got my free state, and were able to file and only pay for their state e-file cost as well!

Couldn’t open product after download Thank you to a previous poster who helped solve my problem. I have a new Dell Inspiron and after launching the product I got the Activate screen which was blank and frozen, product would not launch. Previous poster also had a new Inspiron with same result and finally discovered that changing the screen resolution to 1366×768 solved the problem. Well, it worked for me too! I’ve used wpagen for years but this problem was so annoying, and fist time I’ve ever had a problem with running the product. Kudos and thanks to the previous reviewer for your help, saved me hours of fiddling around!

Caveat emptor! (Buyer beware) I’ve used wpagen for years and years with nary a problem. Not so this year. The pop-up that prompts one to enter the product key came up blank. There was nothing on the screen window and no way to enter the key. A lot of people have experienced this from what I read after I had already made my purchase. Using their tips, I repeatedly changed the display resolution of my screen to different resolutions (for example from 1680×1050 to 1280×1024). Finally, after trying *multiple* resolutions, I could at least see the screen — but when I typed in the product key, nothing appeared. I hit the “activate” button, and the key worked (after a few tries), but I had to type it in blindly. What a pain. Then, when transitioning from Federal to State, there was another pop-up, and the same thing happened again — I could see that there was a pop-up prompting me for something, but the pop-up was completely blank. Again, I tried various random sequences of screen resolutions until finally I could see what it was asking me for and respond accordingly. I saw this problem described in a number of reviews. I’m very surprised that wpagenstore didn’t require Intuit, the makers of wpagen, to correct the problem. wpagens are stressful enough. No one should have to use such sloppy and unprofessional hosting.

wpagen website storee Not for Novice I have been using wpagen for years and like that the State forms and filings are free also. It was very easy to download and was able to load on two computers, one was a laptop and the other was a tower system. The one think that I would recommend before downloading is two have a USB stick to save the download file to. I make it easier to load on a second machine. wpagen make it easy to do your wpagen just make sure you have all of your detail forms ready, like bank interest, mortgage, property wpagen and any deduction ready, it make it easy just to follow through the question one by one. Keep up the great product and will do it again each year, thanks Jim.

Still have to pay extra to E-file state… Maybe it was my own misunderstanding but I started online and it would have cost $70 to efile both Federal and State 2020 wpagens. I searched wpagen products and found this Federal with State product for $49 so was excited about saving myself $20… kind of a pain to xfer information over from online into this program AND in the end I had to pay $20 to E-file State (which I thought was included in this combo). So… same price and extra hassle. Guess I’ll stick with online platform next time.

Works as expected but stocks section is TBD The whole process from buying, to downloading, to installing and execution went without any incidents. I was able to enter my information and was trying to get an estimate of my 2020 wpagens but the section where I entered the equities I had sold wasn’t available; i.e. it’s work in progress without any forecast of when it’ll be available. That’s why I didn’t give it 5 stars. Of course without the selling of equities/mutual funds section there’s no use going to the state wpagen portion so I don’t have any comments for that part of the hosting.

Simple and just works I have used wpagen and H&R Block over the years. This year after reading reviews decided to go with wpagen again. Simple download from wpagenstore and then you have to enter key that is sent via email. I always do the walk-through guide for Income and Deductions. Took me about an hour and a half but i am done. I am going to submit Federal through wpagen tonight and submit my state wpagens online directly. You can pay wpagen to submit your state for an additional fee or you can file them online directly with most states or you always have option to print and mail in.

It helps you determine whether or not to go long form or take the standard deduction. You can file both electronically with a $20 or so fee for your state income wpagens. FOr Federal, I really like ‘It’s Deductible’; if you donate items to a charity it provides an objective value of each item. You only determine whether it is in good or excellent shape. I have used wpagen for several years and it imports the necessary data from the previous year.

Something I found annoying was each time I open it it takes a long time to open. It also wants to update each time and this gives me a concern as I had submitted wpagens for two other wpagen people. Then I wonder if there was something wrong with the ones I had submitted.

Exceptionally User Friendly for Processing wpagens We’ve used wpagen for more than 10 years. It imports data from the previous year, which really helps when completing donations by bringing in their info (address, ID, etc.), recovering bank info, retirement info, state payments and other miscellaneous data. Saves a great deal of time as we don’t need to re-enter basic data every year plus providing a reference check for this year’s data. Hmmm, did I have data from XXXX like I did the year before? The other time savings area is completing worksheets and other, sometimes obscure but needed, forms. Once semi-organized it takes only a few hours to complete and send federal & state forms. Thank you Intuit!

Year in and year out…this is the standard! It’s very intuitive! I’ve used many wpagen hosting over the past 30 years, this is the best. If you want to learn about wpagens this hosting has some very good tutorials, if you know wpagens you can navigate quickly through the program. And….once your information is in the system, the following year is 75% done by using the previous year’s information as a pro-forma. In addition, you have the ability to import W-2’s, 1099’s directly to your wpagen return. Spend the money and the time to learn and use this program and you’ll be finished with your wpagens with satisfaction of doing it yourself accurately. Good luck!

A little more difficult to use There were certain format changes from previous years that caused problems in entering data. Also I had a lot of trouble initially downloading this version. It took 3 tries. I needed assistance with a specific matter and while it took a bit to be able to talk to a person, once I got to those people, they were exceptionally helpful in resolving my problem. They provided friendly, accurate service. I just hope the IRS agrees with their instructions they provided.

Have Used wpagen for Years but…. I have used wpagen for many years to do our wpagen return. Very comfortable to use, sometimes hard to follow when the sotware checks for works and find the works. Better explanations are sometimes needed. hosting is a bit pricey compared to competitor’s hosting. I purchase the hosting to directly process our wpagens on local desktop. I do not do our wpagens directly online or via a cloud. I don’t trust potential hackers.

wpagen is the Best I’ve used wpagen for maybe close to 20 years! It makes my wpagens a lot easier. I like being able to import last years data. That really minimizes how much you have to enter each year. It interviews you and takes you through all the categories of income and deductions. It shows you what you had last year as well. Finally it work and audit checks your returns and e-files them for you. Takes a lot of the pain out of doing your wpagens.

! DO NOT BUY THIS hosting ! My experience with wpagen was terrible. I had to change the resolution of my computer to 600×800 to be able to proceed through some sections of the program. I had to change my wpagen so that it could be run in administrator mode to be able to file my wpagen returns. The charge for using a credit card is 2.54% of the amount of wpagen owed, $25.40 for every $1000 dollars owed just to process a credit card. I spent hours searching the Internet to find out about changing resolution and running in administrator mode because wpagen help is non-existent and where it does exist it is not helpful or useful. For a company like Intuit to produce and sell a product like this is a disgrace. I will not recommend this product to anyone and I will tell everyone what a terrible product this is and insist that they do not purchase it. I am a very unhappy user of this product. What should have been a simple and straight forward task became a nightmare. Only through perseverance, because I had already spent money on the product and it could not be refunded through wpagenstore, was I able to power through and actually file my wpagens.
I was unable to leave a review on Intuit wpagen website because the website wanted me to remove my Ad Blocker. Why should I have to accept and Advertisement from wpagen simply to leave a review on their website.
Last year I used wpagen and it functioned as expected, it worked and I was able to complete and file my wpagens.
This year the whole package feels like a scam with hidden charges, massive workarounds, no live human support (unless you pay), and lousy online support. Caveat Emptor. Buy this at your own risk.

Done in a flash I got my wpagens done in a couple hours! It loaded all the info from last year’s wpagens so I didn’t have to enter addresses and ID numbers, this alone saved a bunch of time. The program guides you through every step or you can pick what you want to enter. This is super easy!! Not sure why people spend $200.00 on a person to prepare their wpagens when they can do it themselves for $40.00.
E-file Federal is free. You have to pay $20.00 to e-file State. I chose to print State and mail it in.
