Lifelong user no more I have used wpagen for as long as I can remember. I am a wpagen practitioner with 20+ years experience. I never had a problem until this summer when I tried to open a return for my brother-in-law. It crashed. After giving up trying to fix it I moved on. This year I purchased the WebApp as usual and it would not install. When I called the help line they wanted to install WebApp to take control of my computer. I obviously said no. Then they told me to log into my account. When my (correct) password didn’t work they sent me a link to reset password, then proceeded to ask for my passport number and other PII. They refused a refund (wpagenstore issued one, presumably on their dime). This was once a great company, but no more. I do not trust them and never will. I’ll probably use H&R block this year.

This company just doesn’t listen! For 10 years I’ve been pointing out to the publisher (Intuit?) a big fail with this program that if I hadn’t caught this oversight, it would have cost me over $25,000 in additional wpagens that I was NOT required to pay to the government. As mentioned they’ve been told for 10 years about the screw up that probably has affected perhaps as many as 2000 individuals. So what has this company been focused on? Making sure through lobbying efforts that our federal wpagen system (9000 pages and counting) and state (who knows how may edicts and pages) is complicated and difficult enough so that people WILL buy this program. If you’re aware of its weaknesses it does make preparing ones wpagens MUCH easier – but it could end up costing you 10’s of thousands of dollars. Be aware.
